Our Dublin call centre receives a call from a very distressed young lady. Her keys have accidentally been locked in her car while her two year boy is in the back seat. Her spare key is at home an hour’s drive away and the only person who is with the key is unable to drive it to her.
Her little boy is quite upset and she is preparing to smash a window to get him out. However our quick thinking and calm co-ordinator assures the woman that he will contact his technician while she is on the line and see what can be done.
Our co-ordinator calls our technician who advises that he will leave straight away to meet the woman. He adds that although he should be there within 20 minutes, there is something that she can try while she waits. He advises that the lady should call the mobile phone of her friend who is holding the key and have him press the unlock button beside the mouthpiece. As he does this, the lady should simultaneously hold her mobile phone beside her car.
As our clever Technician had suspected, the car unlocks due to the waves which travel through the two mobile phones from the key to the car. The grateful woman is then able to open her car and give her little son the hug he wanted.
