We believe that CSR goes beyond being a good corporate citizen and upholding ethical behaviour. It is also about actively caring. It involves our ability as a company to engage our employees in meaningful acts of reaching out and giving back.
How do we do this? Through our Mondiality programme (Mondial + Responsibility). Mondiality encapsulates our ethos of giving something back and investing in the community, charities, the environment and employee health and wellbeing.
As part of our Mondiality programme, each member of staff gets 1 day a year where they can get involved with community projects and activities that benefit others. So far this year, some staff members have used their day to take part in painting projects. Others have been working with our sponsored charities either on site or out raising funds. Even if this means doing a parachute jump!
Our dedicated CSR resource works tirelessly to involve our employees in activities and initiatives which help those around us. The aim is make employees more aware of social and environmental issues both on a local and global scale. The benefits are that many charities and local organisations have received our help, while our employees are proud to work for a company that strives to make a difference.
Through charitable donations and charitable actions, we have helped approximately 20 charities in 2009, raising in excess of €1, 500. These charities ranged from small local organisations to larger national ones. All the charities we help are nominated by our staff meaning they have touched their lives. In some way. At some point.
Mondiality organises a constant stream of fundraising events and activities, ranging from monthly Dress Down Days to supporting our long term partnerships. Staff members take part in national fundraising events, such as the 'Cheerios Breakfast Together', the 'Flora Women's Mini Marathon' and 'Movember' to raise even more much needed funds for deserving charities.
Our participation in the St. Vincent de Paul 'Giving Tree' Campaign was in its 2nd year in December 2009. Once again it was a great success and we look forward to participating for our 3rd year running in December 2010.
We believe helping the local community is to help and not just give monetary donations. We like to take a more practical approach and have taken part in a number of events to aid our local community and neighbours.
Recently, one of our employees played a vital part in the Dun Laoghaire Rathdown Student Enterprise Awards. This event gets the students thinking about their career paths and the opportunities available to them.
And it’s not just schools we help. We are involved in varied projects which reach out to many people within the community. For example, some staff members have taken part in a project painting neglected flats, while others have helped renovate the outside of old folks houses.
We are always on the lookout for projects within our area where we can lend a hand and we always have a number of volunteers willing to help.

Mondial Assistance is part of the Allianz Group, supporting its commitment to reduce carbon emissions by 20% by 2012. As such, we measure business mileage, waste, paper usage, water and energy consumption. Our Green Champions team of employees work extremely hard to maintain and introduce environmental initiatives.
One such initiative is our 'Switch Off' Campaign. This encourages staff to be more energy conscious and switch off lights and computers where not being used. Recycling is very much promoted within the office as well as the use of public transport and car pooling.
Healthy, happy and motivated staff are the key to good customer service. In keeping with this, we offer a number of benefits to staff as part of our Mondiality program. For example, our staff are entitled to free regular eye tests and we encourage all staff to use this benefit.
We offer discounted gym membership and keep our staff informed of all other discounts available to them, such as those for local eateries. Healthy eating is promoted within the office through tips and advice. Recipes are given each month for staff members to try out at home.
Our staff have been the reason for our success. To thank them for their hard work and dedication, monthly prizes are given to those who have excelled. We do our best to help all employees reach their potential. Additional training is given on request and all suggestions for the improvement of business practices are welcome from any level.
